Jonquils peek from under the covers,
They gather strength in the melting snow
A defiant stand against the elements,
Warning winter, it’s time to go.
Closely following allied forces,
Green stems rise from warming sod;
Gallant flags signal the battle won,
Giving spring a victorious nod.
I have documented my daily life in poetry for over fifty years. It is only now that my knowledge of technology has met my ability to pursue this medium. It is all too overwhelming as I approach 60 years of age in an instant. Enjoy the ride and put your seat belt on...I am starting from now! Gravity
Through this
little window
Days unfold and head my way.
I've counted
whales and sail boats,
Watched roofs and eagles fly away.
Every day
for twenty years,
I have
witnessed drops of rain,
Hurricane
winds, a ray of sun
Then watched
it rain again.
Exit cycles
of my loved and lost,
Include those
I cherish still…
The moon, my
one last stalker,
Revisits
my window sill.
Aware that
it’s not personal,
Just obeying its orbital duty,
I never fail
to feel the awe;
The pulling
gravity of beauty.

Tornado Star
The island has a theater now
It boasts three movie screens,
Providing local residents
A plethora of scenes.
Penn Cove is much more rural,
We have but just one screen…
It sifts the prairie soils to mulch;
A mechanical vision, but serene.

A Gift is Waiting in Heaven
“Don’t be somber”, he would note…
“We take comfort knowing Jesus prepared,
Jeffery’s favorite Root Beer Float”.
You can bet Jeffery soon discovered,
A heavenly foot long hair…
Everyone knows when Jesus serves,
He wears no hair net “up there”.

Nothing is Real
It seldom
matters which path you choose,
When pursuing
elusive dreams.
The results
are often debatable
Nothing in
life’s what it seems.
We have little understanding
Of the
universe before us;
Who knows
what fish think of the ocean,
Or what Elk
do at night in the forest.
