My Lucky Life

I had very few rules when growing up,

I could stay out after dark.

My parents always trusted my friends,

Ignoring the strangers in the park.

I picked the schools I wanted,

Choosing the subjects I wanted to learn…

Team sports were Democratic,

Every ten times it was my turn.

I could move anywhere I wanted to live,

Near the deserts or the beach.

Any town or opportunity was

Always well within my reach.

My life from childhood to adulthood,

From the day my life had begun,

My two requirements were the “F” words,

Total Freedom and infinite Fun.

Now that I’ve entered my 70’s,

Celebrating my lucky charms…

I remember friend’s parents and my parents friends,

With tattooed numbers on their arms.

Jetsetter

If I was guaranteed Safety,

I would party with all my friends,

On my own private jet airplane,

Where the horizon never ends.

We’d start with champagne over Paris.

Munch on veggies in Brazil…

Landing briefly in San Francisco

To dine on a five-course meal.

We danced to the finest music,

In my most outrageous lie…

I was the world’s one jet-setter,

Who was too afraid to fly!
