The 60's

There was the 60’s decade,
Assassinations, social chaos and drugs…
Passing out and hitchhiking,
With benevolent Black Panther thugs.

Now I’m in the 60’s once more,
Google search found me still alive…
Sepsis, stones and broken bones,
And the cliff I chose to dive.

The 60’s isn’t a time line
It is now my current age…
 I survived the political conflicts,
Now on the assisted living stage.

When is it Time to Fight Back?

I climbed into the rescue boat
When a stranger grabbed the oar…
Back off he said I remember you
We’ve rescued you before.

I dropped my cell phone under the seat,
A texting driver swerved into my lane…
I saw a dog run under a car,
Adopted but never trained.

A lady at the grocery store,
Didn’t memorize her pin…
The folks in line grew restless,
Patience now days is growing thin.

I landed in a hospital,
Sicker yet from germs inside…
They withheld meds from my roommate,
Within a week he died.

I hired the best carpenter,
To make repairs needed on my home
He failed to ever show up,
Leaving my trash, water leaks alone

I worked hard for a lifetime,
Saving for my golden years and more..
Never expecting medical bills,
Leaving me homeless, dying and poor.

I remember my boss retiring,
His million-dollar hand shake…
My retirement plans were voided;
Nothing left in his bank to take.

The citizens here remain silent.
Ignoring the government’s corruption…
Each death, often a suicide,
Is one more uncounted disruption.

Every day we remain silent,
Betrays everyone we meet…
There will be no justice for anyone,
Until we take it to the streets.

Objects May Appear Closer

Usually in my rear view mirror,
I see just the cars behind me.
I record my thoughts on MS Word;
What I see, who I’d rather be.

Lately now that I’m older,
Realizing my life’s almost complete…
My favorite key on Microsoft word,
Is the one that says, “Delete”.

I now erase bad memories,
Preserving those I wish to keep…
My world as an elderly man,
Deleted almost every human creep.

My actual autobiography now,
Is a constant evolving blog…
I forget more humans every day,
Yet I remember every dog.
