End of the Road

Dogs and their companions,
Communicate well without a word.
People who deny we share a language,
Are really quite absurd…

Eye signals and body language
Speak in an understood code;
We knew the extra cuddles meant,
Nearing the end of our road.

The saddest part of passing time,
Is everything must end;
At least until the day I die,
I will miss you forever my friend.

The Weaning

There’s a man on the corner pay phone,
Two women eye him from the bar…
Playing darts with Cupid’s arrows,
To reel him into any car.

The bartender flirts with the women
While eyeballing other curious men…
Heartbroken lovers pass out drunk
Failing to discover love once again.

There was the drunk, regular patron,
His both feet were on the ground…
Till after the two AM closing call,
He sucked other's abandoned drinks down.

I never pass through tavern doors,
So tired of waking up ill…
Happy to drink at home alone,
Drunken reality’s still a thrill.
