Undo the view

It seems to be human nature,
To tear down and rebuild a new…
A complete, selfish disregard,
For virgin lands or another’s view.

The rainforests and the farmland,
Represent “Exhibit A”…
Over population’s destroying earth,
While sucking the air away.

Prairie's End

This is where the prairie ends;
Our crops and asphalt meet the sand…
The Olympics touch the Salish Sea
Like a moat around our land.

I saw today, a forest fire,
Caused by a lightning storm…
On a mountain, a ferry ride away,
Far from our isle, weather-worn .

Our houses blow down in the wind,
We live on cliffs, that wash away,
Deciding in the end, the beauty
Is compelling enough to stay.

A Life on the Road

I’ve learned that life is a highway,
Unmapped with twists and turns…
Pot holes in asphalt don’t always deliver,
Travelers to where the heart yearns.

Most move through life in daylight,
Dreamers travel farther at night…
We often sleep in technicolor,
Awakening to black and white.

As we age, the hills are steeper,
Our tread, thinner as we grow old,
Yet when remembering the journey,
We see our lives as blue and gold.
