I Ran

Short on money, stature and patience
I left my childhood home…
Tall in dreams and determination,
I veered off road from the comfort zone.

I fell in love, black holes and deep shit,
Dancing often along the trail…
I climbed out of fires, oceans and debt
Determined never to fail.

I crashed autos, parties and web sites,
Some things just got in my way…
But mended some clothes and relationships,
To live another good day.

I’ve yet to finish some chocolate and wine,
Or even my own life span…
Following still, the same dreams and loves,
And the roads, since first I ran.
