Back

I’m craving peaceful valleys,
            Life now seems so unsure,
The human mind works overtime,
What  might our world not endure?

I want to read a kid’s book.
Get stuck knee deep in Pooh!
Believe in all the fairy tales
            Discovering love is true.

I want to prove B. Potter’s mice
            Dress up and really think,
And sail sturdy oak leaf boats
            At night inside my sink!

I’ll find in Never-Never Land,
My friends don’t die in vain,
This world we’re born into,
Is not ruled by the insane.

I’ll go find Uncle Remus,
We’ll tell stories in the woods,
And dream about the “could’a  beens”,
            While omitin’ all da “Should’s”.

I’ll learn the Little Rascals
            Weren't victims of the greedy,
And someday in another life,
I’ll see my dogs and Petey.

Yes, I want my childhood back,
            When work wasn’t a bother,
Back to when I still could dream
That Clarke Kent was my father.

I want to lay down prostrate,
In a puddle or damp grass…
And truly have no worries,
As I watch the storm clouds pass.

 The Rascals taught by example,
           One lesson that never ends...
Every kid who watched them learned,
Dogs are smart and our best friends.
