No one made me wear a tie
To look like a success…
A glass of wine and attitude,
Is what made me pass the test.
I shied away from woolen suits
I favored cowboy boots…
Attracted to the movers,
Who did not forget their roots.
Lost fortunes to the businessmen,
Following the money path…
Made millions with the real folks,
Those friends who helped me laugh.
Gold prices, the stock market,
Real estate or latest trends…
Paled to the investment,
Of enjoying life with friends.
If I died tomorrow,
Broke, wearing not a stitch,
I hope the obits remember,
What memories made me rich.
I never placed all my money
In a bank or a leather pouch…
Instead, I spread my wealth around
By sharing the living room couch.
Starting on a farm with kids,
Geese, horses and some hogs,
Drawing the circle to a close,
Living with the perfect dogs.
