Emotional Cripple

You heed other’s voices,
Ignoring your own;
Adopting their lifestyles,
Becoming a clone.

Your exploration of life,
Was more a guided cruise,
Any fork in the road,
Left you lost and confused.

You relied on others
To define your issues,
With textbook behaviors
To adopt and misuse.

A life with no insight,
Where no dreams occur…
Left you where you are now;
Forgetting who you were.

People born without a dream,
Feel like their soul is hollow…
They find the safest route to choose,
Is to find safe losers to follow.

Perspectives of Memory

I once viewed the entire world
With an artist’s perspective…
My life’s search for truth and beauty,
Was always my main objective.

Often my sights were in color,
Heavenly with faithful devotion.
Some images showed in black and white
As honest and strong bare emotion.

A few times my visions didn’t focus,
The images were foggy or blurred…
Other times some clear and so graphic,
The screams can still be heard.

The Sudden Silence of Snow

I live on a busy highway,
2, 600 cars daily come and go…

Until a cold front from Canada,
Brought the sudden silence of snow.

Deer, a few pheasants, some quail,
And racoons were starting to show…

They shared the peace and memories,
Their ancestors used to know…

They left the day the snow melted,
Human progress their only foe.

Conrad, My Sober Friend

Disclaimer: I would never give a dog alcohol

Conrad is my best friend
We do everything together…
Taking walks on rainy mornings;
Matching raincoats in foul weather.

One day we should just both get drunk,
End up passed out on the floor…
Yet sadly I’ve grown older now,
I don’t drink much anymore.

While I hobble with a wobbly cane,
Conrad, remains hale and hardy.
The only things that make us equals,
Are overeating and a big fart party.
