I thought I would be famous,
Saw it etched somewhere in stone.
I now see fame as worthless
Knowing each will die alone.
World-wide recognition
For a day, perhaps decades
Never lasts forever…
Eventually, fame fades.
“On earth as it is in heaven”,
There’s a new star everyday.
The old then spiral downward
Burning up along the way.
So here I am, quite famous
A necessary cog,
In society’s machinery.
I learned this from my dog...
It’s not critical masses
Nor publicity that counts,
It isn’t being recognized,
Or the salary amounts.
True fame is when you notice,
The very special few,
Who sacrificed a moment
To share some time with you.
