Everyone
except my dad,
Considered
the Earth a safe planet. …
Very few
heeded the warnings,
Taking every
day for granted.
Dad shook
his fist at semi-trucks,
Emitting
black diesel smoke…
If he only
knew fifty years later,
People
thought climate change a joke.
I’m happy
now my father’s dead,
Saving the planet,
his one desire…
He would
simply be heartbroken
Knowing his
children were on fire.
Two weeks later...
Fearless senators clutch their bibles,
And their wives in gold lame gowns...
Meanwhile the oceans evaporate,
As biblical floods destroy towns.
