I had a
daily Carmel routine,
Taking our
Corgi and Lab to the beach.
Bolting out
of the pickup truck,
There was a
tennis ball for each.
Philo, the Welsh
Corgi,
Pushed his
ball around damp sand…
Buck, the
obnoxious Labrador
Performed
antics twice as grand.
He would
swim out past the breakers,
Invisible
from the shore,
Then he’d
drift back with the current,
To chase the
ball once more.
Buck never stopped
chomping his ball,
Salt foam
circled around his face.
The sponge
effect and the bubbles,
Made the wealthy shelter in place.
