Babies

Everyone wants a baby today,
They dress up the girls like dolls;
The boys to look like athletes
Posed with guns and soccer balls.

They flash them ‘round like jewelry,
To show off their new net worth’s.
The babies are fashion accessories,
Acquired from careless births.

Crests of Diamonds

The wind delivers diamonds

On the crests of rippling waves.

Old roads, past memories traveled,

Store in the sparkles my photos save.

Time once measured in hours,

Now ebbs on wind jeweled tides.

Constantly changing directions,

Fate and currents never take sides.

The cove today is white crystal,

Tomorrow, shiny black pearls…

The future, relies upon the wind,

Ruling how life’s sails unfurl.

The Techinical Name of a Time Machine

I discovered in Elementary School,

The sound of my own voice.

The speeches of deceased presidents;

Rewinding history was a choice.

We first heard Bach without scratches

Spools of the old and new spoken word,

We could record, edit and delete,

All that we chose to be heard.

Parents heard us quote Shakespeare,

Lawyers recorded, to seal the deal…

Rosemary Woods erased eight minutes,

The reel to reel became all too real.

Everyone used one familiar word,

In grammar school, as I think back…

The name of our first time machine,

In the classroom was Wollensak.

The Damn It Planet

The moon is a wonderful night lite,
Controlling gravity and tide.
Barely littered by the humans
Who are leaving their planet fried.

Earth’s governments turn a blind eye;
Profits trump a certain doom.
NASA’s future  plans include
Hurling asteroids at the moon.
