Backyard Wisdom

So many best conversations,
Were in sleeping bags under the stars…
Growing pains and dreams discussed,
Along with fantasies and favorite cars.

We marveled at the universe,
And our microscopic size.
Sometimes we spied a jet plane,
Following a miracle with young eyes.

Thirty years on, in a hot tub,
I notice satellites overhead…
So many mysteries unanswered;
So many truths those nights, unsaid.

Never trust a group of males,
To agree to any truth...
Wall building starts in the early years,
Testing boundaries in our youth.

Nonie's Cabin

My very best friend in high school
Is a  curious lifetime learner.
Flute lessons, tap dancing, painting,
Her story is a real page turner.

The result’s always remarkable,
Another notch on her skill chart.
The house vomits a stony path,
Gosh I love her art.

The best part of this story,
Is one can’t measure all the fun.
These lessons were the best of life,
When all was said and done.

Babies

Everyone loves a baby;
Their drool, odors and baby fat…
This baby is resting.
He just ate the neighbor’s cat.
