Today without any warning,
A rainbow rested on Boiler Bay…
Adding festive colors to Seagulls.
Pelicans in flight, were no longer grey.
I’ll admit I was only there,
Just to kill some time,
Yet nature again reminded me,
My life here is sublime.
I have documented my daily life in poetry for over fifty years. It is only now that my knowledge of technology has met my ability to pursue this medium. It is all too overwhelming as I approach 60 years of age in an instant. Enjoy the ride and put your seat belt on...I am starting from now! Today without any warning,
A rainbow rested on Boiler Bay…
Adding festive colors to Seagulls.
Pelicans in flight, were no longer grey.
I’ll admit I was only there,
Just to kill some time,
Yet nature again reminded me,
My life here is sublime.
My friends would ask me daily,
“How are you feeling today"?
“I’m great, how about you”? I said,
I was lying all the way.
I fed myself a healthy diet,
Grains, greens, high protein food,
Always served in metered amounts;
Quarts of ice cream helped my mood.
I stuck to my diet for decades,
My routine was always the same.
Each year this disciplined eater,
Was amazed at how much I’d gain.
Even an occasional burger
Had lean meat for my health,
I learned bacon flies under the radar;
Most fat foods arrive stealth.
Seventy-one years old tonight,
Hearing aids plugged into my head.
Watching a Christmas movie alone,
All 65 years of my dog friends dead.
I remembered a Christmas gift when three,
And my father’s gift when he was four…
Were tucked away in a cardboard box,
And shouldn’t be hidden any more.
There’s Peter bear, now sixty-eight,
And Timothy bear, one hundred and three.
Both glad to be liberated,
I forgot them, they remembered me.
The fact they still provide comfort,
Is in no way a mystery…
They’re the only pieces left in my life,
Still a part of my history.
