Deciduous

I wish my heart pumped stoically,
The sap that flows in trees…
Seasons change and autumn ebbs
Faint heart, less sap, no leaves.

I’m rooted on my given road,
Bare branches in long sleeves…
Once stately, human landmarks
The winter loom shuttle weaves.
