Addictions

Everyone has an addiction,

My dog craves Milk Bone biscuits…

A neighbor wants OxyContin

I’m jonesing for tea bags and Triscuits.

These are just the small things,

To get us through our day…

It takes chocolate, wine and pizza,

To keep my pangs at bay.

Sometimes I contain my cravings,

With control and moderation…

But nothing gets me higher

Than a smile or adulation.

It’s so important to recognize,

A rather innocent addiction…

The dangers are not knowing,

When cravings become affliction.
