Prairie Flamingos

Flooded Coupeville Prairie 3 10 2016

Southern winds blew in last night,
A 65 mile per hour flurry.
It seems our weather lately,
Seeks destruction in a hurry.

Relentless rain and erosion strips
Tree bark down to bare bone…
Winds from where I used to live,
Brought no comforting scents from home.

Some are now left homeless,
Thousands suffer with no power…
I survived this hurricane, yet
Feel more defeated by the hour.

Rivers run dry, as farm fields flood,
Pollution’s the malignant tumor.
We’re marching towards catastrophe,
As we appease our fears with humor.
