Who We Were

I was upset by friend’s appearances,
Even growing more critical of me.
I ran across an old VHS tape,
I’d forgotten who we used to be.

One of my favorite girlfriends,
Is bound to a wheel chair…
Dave the most eloquent friend,
Seldom speaks but gasps for air.

Tony had the envied physic,
He pinned all wrestlers to the mat…
The losers now, grey and wrinkled,
Tony himself, incredibly fat.

I had a thought this morning,
How much time we actually weigh…
Somedays we can tip the scale,
Remembering every wonderful day.
